A visionary who transformed language, culture, and faith into a global media movement.
Some people build businesses. Rabindra Narayan built a civilisation's voice.
There are pioneers who arrive early to a field. And then there are those who arrive before the field itself exists — who conjure an industry from nothing, by sheer force of vision and will. Rabindra Narayan is the second kind.
Born into a world where ambition had to be earned through books and grit, Narayan pursued English Literature at Hans Raj College, Delhi University.
In the early 1990s, Narayan conceived simultaneous multi-platform broadcasting across 800 cable networks — years before streaming became mainstream.
In 1998, he launched Punjabi World — the world's first Punjabi satellite television channel. Sardar Gurcharan Singh Tohra entrusted him with daily live Gurbani telecast from Sri Darbar Sahib.
Gurbani entered millions of homes across India, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Europe and New Zealand. He built Zee Punjabi, Alpha ETC Punjabi, ETC Punjabi and founded PTC Network.
In 2019 he introduced the world's first 360-degree VR Gurbani telecast. In 2022 he received the National Film Award for Baghi Di Dhee. In 2025 he launched GTC Network — an AI-powered media ecosystem for the future.
At 59, Rabindra Narayan is not winding down. He is, by every measure, just getting started.
